6 Inch Filter Brushes in Circular Chambers – 5 Inch Spacing Guide
How Many 6 Inch Brushes Do I Need for a Circular Chamber?
6 inch (15cm) diameter Black Knight filter brushes can be used effectively in circular filter chambers when placed at the correct spacing. Their larger diameter compared to 4 inch brushes means fewer are needed to fill a given chamber, though careful attention to spacing is important to ensure good coverage and avoid unnecessary gaps.
Recommended Spacing for 6 Inch Brushes in Circular Chambers
For circular chambers, we recommend placing 6 inch brushes at 5 inch (12.5cm) intervals. This spacing allows the brushes to sit close enough together to interlock effectively while still permitting the correct flow of water through the filter medium.

How Many Brushes Will I Need?
The diagram above shows how 6 inch brushes fit into an 18 inch (45cm) circular chamber. Use this as a reference point when planning your own installation. For larger chambers, scale up using the same spacing principle, or get in touch for tailored advice.
Things to Consider
While 6 inch brushes work well in circular chambers of a suitable size, very large circular chambers may benefit from a mix of brush sizes to avoid gaps around the edges. Note that 8 inch brushes are not recommended for circular chambers as they leave significant gaps that reduce filtration efficiency — see our page on why 8 inch brushes don’t suit circular chambers for more detail.
If your chamber is rectangular rather than circular, see our guide to 6 inch brushes in rectangular chambers. For smaller circular chambers, 4 inch brushes may be a better fit.
